Enclosure No.5.

51

Hon. Colonial Secretary.

The position so far as this department is concerned is

that I, as Official Administrator took possession of the late Miss

MacGregor's effects from the police on the 3rd instant, details of which appear in the attached schedules. There is also a large box stored with Messrs. Thomas Cook & Son, contents of which I have no

knowledge this is now held to my order.

I have now paid into the Bank

£200 in English Bank notes

$116 in Hong Kong Bank Notes.

$1.50 in Hong Kong 10 cent pieces.

From the above amount I have paid:-

Total $3,117.50

Brown Jones & Co. Funeral Expenses

$161.00

Drs.Black,Balean & Skinn

25.00

Police Department for cable

41.98

Kowloon Hospital

8.00

Police Department - Ambulance

5.00 240.98

Balance

$2,876.52

I think it hardly likely there are any other claims or

they would have been sent in before now.

So far as I am aware Miss MacGregor left no Will here but if there is one at home and there is any estate then it would no doubt be proved there first and the Probate or an Exemplification of it sent out here with a Power of Attorney for it to be resealed

here and the estate then wound up.

If no estate at home but there is a Will it would have

to be sent out to be proved here by some one under a Power of Attorney for the executor or next of kin, if no executor appointed.

If there is no Will a Power of Attorney must be sent to someone out here usually a Solicitor from the next of kin, enabl- ing the person appointed to obtain administration here to wind up the

estate.
